I guess some of you were kind of expecting it but I wanted everyone to know.
I have decided to stop working on Photon, the plugin to integrate phpwebgallery into wordpress. The very first reason is that some other plugin are doing the same thing and they are really good. Besides they have a proper team working on it. The other reason is a lack of time.

I have personnaly moved to NextGen Gallery which is really easy to use and convenient. I recommend it.

I want to thank every person who somehow helped and supported photon and I hope you understand my decision.

But if a good soul wants to go on with Photon, please do!

Those of you who have been traveling around and passed by Paris probably noticed this new bike system called Velib’ (for freedom bike). The principle is simple. There is now a network of small bike stations in Paris (every few hundreds meters) where you can take a bike to go anywhere. You have 30 minutes to deposit it at another station. A year pass is 30 euros, and a week is 5 euros, so that in the end it’s really cheap. And it’s really impressive.
I have been riding my bike in Paris for a few years now and I have never seen so many of them.

Not only the velib’ bikes are everywhere, but also it seems like all of the forgotten ones who have stayed for years in caves are now out up and running. In the last few weeks, I have seen Parisian families going around Paris on bike. Sometimes only one out of 4 has a velib’. I talked to a grandmother who was trying bike nearly for the first time.

A few days ago, I even saw a group of 10 girls having a “bachelorette party” on bikes!

So eventually, bikes found their path to freedom in Paris!

Nicolas Sarkozy is elected with 53% , a frank advantage for an election whose participation is about 85% ( a record ).
No doubt on France choice. We’ll see what the big guy will do. I just hope he is not gonna make suburb more explosive (if it is possible).

Anyway, you guys elected Royal without any doubt too. I agree, she seemed to be the one who would have reduce the tensions between communauties.

From the first run, you seem to give more credits to Segolène Royal, would you confirm that?

• Photon doesn’t work under EasyPHP?
  • Photon require cURL, a php library which is installed on most server. However it is not on EasyPHP. To make it works, it is hovewer very easy. Just click on EasyPHP menu->Configuration->Extensions/modules and click on php_curl.
• My pictures with a higher resolution overflow the frame of my theme. Can I resize them automatically?
  • Yes, to do that, just go into phpwebgallery admin menu and give a maximum width in “default display” (for default and for the users parameters). Choose a width that suits your theme and them do a database maintenance and synchronize additionnal informations on your pictures to update the width value.
• I have drop-down categories, it doesn’t seem to include the menu into my theme?
  • Sorry, I did my best but, for now, photon can’t work with drop down category list. You will have to change your theme.
